Once again Mike G has excelled in organising an excellent club outing. The outing was well attended with 55 (members and guests) on board the coach by the 8.00am departure. The club last visited this venue over 10 years ago, and since then the museum has expanded with new attractions. The highlight of the visit was the canal trip through the tunnels of the old limestone workings. The tunnels and caverns are an exemplary example of 18th century ingenuity and endeavours.
The historic 'streets' took some of us back to childhood memories (not the Victorian era streets!). The weather was kind - not too hot. The on-site 1950's cuisine, including beef dripping cooked fish 'n' chips, faggots and peas and other delicacies were much enjoyed.
The size of the museum is such that not everyone may have seen all that there is to see! It was apparent that everyone enjoyed the day, and sincere thanks to Mike G for organising a very successful trip.
