2022 Club Nights & Events Calendar
Club Nights and Outside Events
Club nights are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Christchurch Centre, High Oaks, St Albans, AL3 6DJ and start at 7.30pm. Non-members are always welcome and refreshments are served. An entry charge of £3 is made to cover hall costs and refreshments. The entry charge can be made by debit/credit card or by cash (correct amount please).
Chipperfield Track (Puffing Park) Running Sessions.
There are normally two Club running sessions each calendar month at the Puffing Park . They are at 10:00am on the first Sunday after club nights and on Thursday afternoon at 1:00pm two weeks and a day after club nights . Club night dates are listed below, so to check availability attend the Club night, or check with Roger Stephen by phone or email, or join his regular Puffing Park e-mail list. To reduce the risk of getting stuck you are advised to check ground conditions carefully before driving beyond the entrance gates.

9th February - 7:30pm Society Meeting - Collect subscriptions and Mike Collins introduces his Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger Ausf.E
9th March - 7:30pm Society Meeting - Members Talks. N.Guage Model Railways by Justin Watkins and Radio Control in Meccano Models by Ted Pritchard.
13th April - 7:30pm Society Meeting - AGM followed by a presentation from the chairman of the Northern Association of Model Engineers to our Newsletter editor then a showing of members Completed Models and Work in Progress and, time permitting, a talk in 'The Power of Steam' by Malcolm Beak.
Sunday 17th April - Easter Boating Regatta. Verulamium Park, St.Albans. 10.00 - 13:00
11th May - 7:30pm Society Meeting - “The tooling of George H. Thomas” by Guy Keen
8th June - Our June society meeting will be at Puffing Park, starting at 18:30. We are planning to provide tea, coffee and biscuits (but don’t let that stop you bringing anything else).
Sunday 10th July - Annual Club outing to Pitstone Green Museum Leighton Buzzard. Make your own way and meet at 11:00. Concession rates on entry. Free Parking. Further information is available on the museum website.
13th July - 7:30pm Society Meeting - Guest speaker Steve Briancourt on the History of Meccano followed by his talk on the design and construction of an all Meccano model of the USS Missouri battleship.......NOT TO BE MISSED.
10th August - 7:30pm Society Meeting - Roger talks about assessing the value of an an unknown loco and Malcolm on his Mini-Vap boat.
14th August - 12:00am Society picnic at Puffing Park - chinwags and electric locos etc.
14th Sept - 7:30pm Society Meeting - Brian Stringer on the history of Lion, the Liverpool &
Manchester Railway, also the building of his model Lion, plus his Grandfathers
work at the Stratford East London locomotive works
24th & 25th September - Club Exhibition at Townsend School St.Albans. Support required from all members for this major club event.
12th October - 7:30pm Society Meeting - October. An engineering evening dedicated to building G1 locos with Brian Looker.
9th November - 7:30pm Society Meeting - Society EGM & Mike Grossmith gives us a talk about his North Sea Herring Drifter. With plenty of pictures and the odd video Mike compares his model to the prototype.
14th December - 7:30pm Society Meeting & Christmas Party - Sausage rolls, cake, raffle, a puzzle competition and one of our members will be giving an illustrated talk.

28th May - Redbourn Museum Steam Day - volunteers needed
28th - 29th May - Model Boat Mayhem at Wicksteed Park
3rd - 6th June - Chipperfield Jubilee Celebrations - We hope to open Puffing Park for train rides.
